Similar to the recent storm swept through the northern region the previous evening, the home side swept United aside at the their home ground. It was a result that clearly signaled their leadership claims as they consolidated their standing at the league summit.

This outcome marked consecutive league setbacks for Skinner's side for the maiden instance since last May, leaving them a significant margin off the top team with their championship aspirations severely dented.

The hosts, on the other hand, could have increased their cushion when a delightful Vivianne Miedema pass sent Shaw away only for her to fluff her lines but it was insignificant to the hosts.
